What it isn't

Just for grown-ups. Kiddos are indulged here, too, with their own pool cabanas, a kid-tastic pool complete with two slides and a splash zone, kids club (ages 4-12) and even an on-site arcade.

What we think

Even in a state so known for its size that the expression “everything’s bigger in Texas” actually tracks, this resort is BIG, all caps. Not just in size, but in your experience. Guest rooms here are fitted for country royalty with luxe amenities, including Keurig coffee makers, rainfall showers, double sinks in the spa-like bathrooms, patios, Bluetooth docking stations, and so much more. And yes, they’re huge. Rooms begin at 400 square feet for a Deluxe King Room. To live like famous Texan Willie Nelson might, we recommend booking a 570 square foot Pool View Junior Suite or even a villa (which we love for their ultra-pampering service, including cocktails at check-in and a comped resort cart for whirling around the grounds.

The Moment

Sitting by the roaring fire at Signature, you can’t help but treat yourself to their prime beef tenderloin…but you never guessed it would be this superb, in its drizzle of roasted garlic soubise and served with short rib cappelletti. Everything’s not only bigger in Texas, but it’s better, too.
