The Lodge at Blue Sky

Auberge Resorts Collection

What it is

A 3,500-acre private ranch with any bucket-list adventure you could hope for.

What it isn't

Your classic dude ranch, aesthetically. Expect MoMA-esque architecture complete with floor to ceiling windows, ideal for taking in views of the Wasatch Mountain Range.

What we think

Taking a helicopter to fly fish in a sky-high, mirror-like alpine pond? Practicing yoga at sunrise in the sweet-scented air overlooking Alexander Canyon? Riding horses alongside sagebrush and scrub oak? It’s just another day in paradise at The Lodge at Blue Sky, where nearly any exploit you can conjure they already have, with experts for guidance. And after your heart rate is back to normal, the pampering back at the modernist ranch is nothing short of sublime—most notably in the clifftop spa, where the infinity pool juxtaposes like an art installation against the red mountains beyond and locavore treatments include herb-infused massages. Although each room choice is exquisite, we have a particular fondness for the Earth Suites, which were constructed in the hills themselves of local limestone with grass roofs—like some modernist version of ‘Little House on the Prairie.’

You're here because

Blue Sky has its own private ski lounge tucked under the slopes at Park City Mountain Resort, plus a Mountain Yurt for apres-ski whiskey tipples by the fire.

The Moment

Any chef with a James Beard Award under their belt knows a thing or two about delighting by dish. But Blue Sky’s Executive Chef at Yuta, Galen Zamarra, takes deliciousness to dizzying new heights (and no, we’re not referencing Park City’s 7,000-foot elevation). Your dinner of Columbia River sturgeon with wild nettle risotto was divine, but dessert—a chilled hibiscus soup with macerated local berries, orange, mint and vanilla ice cream—sent you into outer orbit.

Restaurants & Bars

Yuta - Western cuisine utilizing sustainably sourced, seasonal ingredients carefully curated by Executive Chef Galen Zamarra

The Refectory - Mountain cuisine with soaring views Located at the High West Distillery

The Bar + Lounge at Blue Sky - Whiskey cocktails, craft Utah beers and savory bar fare with live music on the weekends

Location

Just an 18 mile drive north of Park City, a.k.a. the mountain town that the Sundance Film Festival—and Robert Redford—made famous. Sports enthusiasts won’t want to miss the Utah Olympic Park, where the games were held in 2002 and where you can now bobsledding at 70+ miles an hour yourself.
