Washington School House Hotel

History Reborn

What it is

An 1889 hammered limestone schoolhouse turned into one of the hippest hotels in town, with 12 artful suites and a heated pool built into the hills.

What it isn't

Sleeping through its lessons. Guests can call the concierge 24 hours a day here.

What we think

Proof that this hotel has won the proverbial gold: the fire pit was made from a steel Olympic torch that was wielded in the 2002 Winter Olympics, held down the road in Salt Lake City. You’ll be treated like an Olympian in the guest rooms, where amenities include gratis Evian spritzer, lavender pillow spray, lip balm and sunscreen (a must at this altitude of 7,000-feet), and Molton Brown toiletries that, when paired with the fluffy robes and slippers, will make you feel like you’re in your own private spa. (Adding to that effect: the in-room massages available with one quick phone call to the concierge.) Each guest room looks like it was torn from the pages of Architectural Digest; book the Two Queen Room for boxed-beam ceilings, hand-made iron beds swaddled in Pratesi custom linens, a burled walnut wood dresser from the 1800s and a marble bathroom with heated floors for coziness underfoot.

You're here because

There is no on-site restaurant. In its place: Executive Chef Ryan Frye, who whips up local, organic delicacies for breakfast served before a flickering fire.

The Moment

After a day on the slopes, there’s only one place you want to apres-ski: under the 100-year-old chandelier dangling from the 16-foot-high ceilings in your room, sipping a flute of bubbly... and planning tomorrow’s runs.

Restaurants & Bars

Private dining - Complimentary, hearty mountain breakfast and fabulous apres-ski fare

Location

Tucked along the main drag in Park City’s historic district, just across the street from the Park City Museum (don’t miss the basement jail and its graffiti from 1916).
