The Lodge at Spruce Peak
Alpine Icon
What it is
An indulgent 300-room ski-in, ski-out resort with a Vermont-inspired spa and 9 unmissable restaurants.
What it isn't
Just a wintertime destination. Thrills abound year-round, from fly fishing classes on the Lamoille River to insider guided factory tours of everything from Ben & Jerry’s to Cabot Cheddar.
What we think
East Coasters have one renowned claim to fame when it comes to skiing—and it’s this. The Lodge at Spruce Peak is reportedly the lone ski-in, ski-out 5-star stay in all of New England, and no wonder: there are 485 skiable acres, 13 lifts, and—this is the magic number—333 inches of average annual snowfall. The lodge itself was tailor-made for après-ski delights, with marble-lined bathrooms, Instagrammable views and gas fireplaces cozying up every suite. Golfers flock here for The Mountain Course—named the top in the state by Golf Advisor—thanks to unexpected challenges (rock outcroppings galore) and exquisite overlooks of Mt. Mansfield, the highest in Vermont at 4,393-feet.
You're here because
You’re a bit of a thrill-chaser, and sometimes even skiing isn’t enough. Thankfully, the resort has a list of activities that feels nearly as long as the listings in the local phone book—from horse-drawn sleigh rides in the foothills to dog sledding nearby ice-capped lakes.
The Moment
You nearly booked a CBD massage, you’ve been so stressed with work lately. But tucked in your robe before a flickering gas fireplace in the spa, you no longer need it. The Stowe Cider Uber Scrub is everything you could have hoped from this getaway—from the fermented cider scrub-down to the massage to the chilled Stowe Cider to sip as you prepare to re-enter the real world. But not too soon.

Location
At the feet of the slopes just outside of Stowe, Vermont—famed as the gateway to Smugglers’ Notch State Park. Beer lovers won’t want to miss stopping by The Alchemist brewery in town for tastings of their cheekily named tipples (Heady Topper, Luscious, and Skadoosh XXXV among them).
