Woodstock Inn & Resort

To the Manor Born

What it is

A thoroughly charming 142-room estate once owned by Laurance and Mary Rockefeller, with a lazer-beam focus on food, adventure and wellness.

What it isn't

Actually that old. Sure, the Colonial facade looks like its been there since the hotel was a tavern in 1763, but it’s actually a newly built structure constructed by the Rockefellers in 1970.

What we think

The beauty is in the details here, as any recent guest will attest. You’ll spy handcrafted bed frames, hand-dyed blankets and wood burning fireplaces in your guest room, but that’s merely the beginning. The resort has put just as much thought into every other part of your experience, from hiring a master gardener to creating a LEED-certified 10,000-square-foot spa with treatments inspired by Vermont itself. If you’re truly out to #TreatYoSelf, ask to stay in the Laurance S. Rockefeller Suite, which was designed to recreate his own rooms at his nearby home—the Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller Mansion—with Federal antique furniture and a hand-painted wrap-around mural of Vermont’s verdant hills.

You're here because

The resort has curated a host of unmissable activities, including fat biking and cross country skiing surrounding hills and fly-fishing with Orvis-endorsed guides.

The Moment

You rarely laugh in spas...they’re so serious! But have to let out a chortle when you spy this particular spa’s “tapas menu” of 20-minute treats. Will you have the peppermint foot therapy? The wild lime scalp treatment? The refresh facial? Who are you kidding. You book all three. No regrets.
