Thompson Seattle

Sleek & Chic

What it is

A glamorous 150-room respite overlooking Puget Sound, with a modern glass facade, a fully stocked gym, locavore restaurant and packed rooftop restaurant.

What it isn't

Just for short term stays. The hotel has Residences for extended bookings that include full kitchens and in-unit washer/dryers.

What we think

If you think glass-walled hotels are too cool for comfort, think again. Thompson Seattle has married all the perks of modern architecture with the warmth of yesteryear, thanks to hardwood flooring, curvaceous Mid century-inspired furniture and spa-like bathroom with rainfall showerheads. Amenities are plush—including Sferra bed linens, robes, curated honor bars and D.S. & Durga bath toiletries—but we especially love that rooms overlook glimmering Puget Sound and Pike Place Market, which had a star turn in Tom Hanks’ iconic 1993 film Sleepless in Seattle. Rooms begin at 314 square feet; to spread out, we love the Water View Studio Suite, which has a roomy 696-square-foot floor plan and separate living space ideal for sunset cocktail hours.

You're here because

You love a rooftop bar, especially one within a few steps of your bedroom. This one—cheekily named The Nest—has a show-stopping perch over Puget Sound and unforgettable cocktails like Truth Serum (rye, cider, cinnamon syrup, lemon and Bitter Truth Jerry Thomas bitters).

The Moment

Under the twinkling hanging lights at Conversation Kitchen & Bar, conversation (ironically!) flows. Or maybe it’s that the food—including farro risotto in pumpkin and cashew cream and king salmon with winter squash puree—is so worthy of an instant rave.

Restaurants & Bars

Conversation - new signature restaurant offering all-day dining and drawing upon international culinary influences

The Nest - rooftop bar, cocktail lounge, and terrace offering hand-crafted cocktails, wine, and small snacks

Location

Smack dab in the heart of downtown Seattle, just two blocks from Pike Place Market and four from the Seattle Art Museum, home to 25,000 works (including Richard Serra’s Wake).
