Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin
Chanticleer Guest House
What it is
An adults-only, antique-stocked bed & breakfast in a 1915 Dutch-style farmhouse on 70 private acres of Wisconsin wilderness, with a pond the local deer and turkeys j’adore.
What it isn't
Buzzing with citiphile pleasures. But who needs a full spa when activities include hiking pristine woods and swimming in the on-site pool?
What we think
The Danish word “hygge”—essentially, coziness—is perfectly exemplified at Chanticleer Guest House. Each room, cottage and cabin is everything one could want from a B&B and more. Take the Grand Suite, with 10-foot -ceilings and pine walls; a double whirlpool tub; and a flickering wood-burning fireplace. Or the Granary Room, with original five-inch wide fir floors, a wood-wrapped whirlpool bathtub, easy-on gas fireplace, and your own private terrace peeping out on the pond. Want to feel like you live here? Book one of their cottages or cabins—each with full kitchens and exposed rustic oak beams on the towering lofted ceilings.
You're here because
The myriad five star guest reviews are absolutely glowing—including many from guests who return every single year.
The only thing better than waking up to a flickering fire from your four post bed? Taking your breakfast on a sun-dappled porch, pastoral farmland sprawling before you in all directions—a flock of finches the only thing interrupting the silence.
