What it is
A dazzling 1915 former Department of Education building, now an ultra luxe hotel with two locavore restaurants, a beloved bar, and a spa with a dreamy indoor pool.
What it isn't
Boring. The hotel’s team of Capella Culturists can put together unexpected activities galore, including under-the-radar clubs and farmer’s markets ripe for exploration.
What we think
Capella wins award after award for their guest experience for good reason. Guest rooms are nothing less than ginormous (starting at 495 square feet) and fitted sumptuously with made in Italy Frette bed linens, custom art, and a loaner tablet that allows you to control everything from the gauzy draperies to the lighting at the touch of a touchscreen. The Deluxe Rooms have lovely sitting areas, a wonderful spot to sip a Nespresso or wine from your own wine fridge; while the Deluxe Suites are also equipped with spa-like, expansive bathrooms complete with soaking tubs within their 904 square foot floor plans.
You're here because
The hotel’s Aperture restaurant in the courtyard feels more like a secret garden, with its weeping fig trees and walls of verdant plants…and it’s home to the best afternoon tea you’ve had outside of London, including sconces with rosella jam.
You’ve swum lap after lap in the marble-lined pool, so now it’s time to properly treat yourself in the spa. Your only to-do? A volcanic mineral mud wrap. Bliss.
