What we think

If we had to sum up this seafront resort in one word, it might just be “Glamour.” Take the guest rooms, where parquet floors, gleaming wood walls, marble vanities and artful LED lighting casts a captivating spell. Or the postcard-ready view of SugarLoaf Mountain—a monolithic, sculptural tower of granite and quarts— and white sand Copacabana Beach. It’s worth upgrading to the Fairmont Gold-level rooms for indulgences of a hotel-within-the-hotel, from the little (staffers remembering which pillow-type you prefer, and ensuring it’s in your room upon arrival) to the legendary (gratis afternoon canapés, an honor bar, and toothsome continental breakfasts). To really sprawl out, book a 755-square-foot Bedroom Suite—each has a plush king bed and balcony that peeps out on SugarLoaf.
