Palácio Tangará
An Oetker Collection Hotel
What it is
A newer 141-room hilltop hideaway with a Jean-Georges Vongerichten restaurant, two semi olympic pools, and an artful spa.
What it isn't
Slacking on its workout regime. The hotel’s 24-hour gym is stocked with the best equipment Technogym has to offer.
What we think
When Palácio Tangará enlisted local design firms Bick Simonato and Anastassiadis to adorn the property, they knowingly created pure perfection: each room is both traditionally appointed and yet totally fresh, in a palette of contemplative blues and steely grays. And there’s no such thing as a “starter room” here. The Deluxe Room category is an oversized 506-square-feet, and fitted with a balcony, dining area and an espresso machine at-the-ready to whip up your morning jolt in time to watch the sunrise. Interior design obsessives will j’adore the 2,303-square-foot Suite Panamby, with its toile-patterned draperies and wallcoverings, modernist canopied bed, and an especially roomy terrace—322 square feet of al fresco bliss overlooking the surrounding nature reserve.
You're here because
There are five (five!) on-site dining options, each nothing less than exquisite—including afternoon tea accompanied by a pianist on a terrace and a locavore spot helmed by Michelin-starred star chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten (order the burrata with passionfruit, arugula and basil and the peppercorn crusted beef tenderloin with truffle jus).
The Moment
Reclining on in your cabana on a palm-shaded daybed, the charming waiter from the Pool Bar is doting on you. “Another G&T with your bacon-topped cheeseburger?” Yes, of course. It’s #vacay, after all.
