Easter Island, Chile
Nayara Hangaroa
Natural Wonder
What it is
A serene retreat inspired by magical Easter Island itself, with generous rooms, a spa with rounded rooms, and three top notch restaurants that feature indigenous dishes.
What it isn't
Just about ogling Easter Island’s volcanic Moai sculptures. There’s plenty to do at Nayara Hangaroa, including spelunking in Ana Kakenga cave and snorkeling amid eye-popping fish.
What we think
Rooms at the thoroughly sculptural and architectural Nayara Hangaroa were inspired by the island’s ancient caves…but they’re caves you’ll never, ever want to leave, thanks to floor to ceiling windows, rounded walls, living rooftops and finishes like volcanic stone, clay and cypress logs (all from the region, of course). Even the inky black clay bath tub you’ll steep in was made by a local artist and fired in a local oven. That each room also comes with an enormous floor plan (starting at 527 square feet), terrace, twice daily maid service, and a minibar is just a bonus. Our favorite room might just be the Maunga, a two-level space with 796 square feet of room to roam and a terrace that overlooks the frothy sea.
You're here because
You love traveling across the world when you can find a hotel that feels like it’s across the world, aesthetically speaking. This is exactly that: a wondrous place that could only exist right here on Easter Island.
The Moment
You’re not sure what’s more blissful during today’s spa treatments—a chocolate body wrap or bamboo-therapy massage—so you decide to indulge in the same course of action tomorrow to be sure.
