Miraflores Park, A Belmond Hotel

Waterside Wonder

What it is

A garden-flanked 89-suite gem with a heated rooftop pool overlooking the Pacific Ocean, spa with locally sourced treatments, and four fabulous dining options.

What it isn't

Boring. Belmond has curated a treasure trove of Peruvian adventures, including guided food crawls through the Surquillo market and watching horses dance at a private hacienda in the lush countryside.

What we think

Every single room available here is a suite, which tells you something about how they view guests: all are equally worthy of over-the-top indulgences. Junior Suites begin at 457 square feet, and are stocked with a sitting area perfect for going over the day’s itinerary; marble-lined bathrooms; and high-tech LCD tv’s and DVD players (not that you’ll spend much time vegging out). It’s worth upgrading to a Garden Junior Suite for a lush patio, or even a 1,399-square-foot Presidential Pool Suite, which has its own plunge pool on a private terrace overlooking the ocean, plus a sauna in the spa-like main bathroom. (Best of all, if you book this suite, you’ll be treated to doting butler service).

You're here because

The bath butler will be happy to draw you a bath adorned with salts and rose petals in your own room, then sneak out—after leaving behind a bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries, of course.

The Moment

The whiff of salty sea air on the 11th floor deck at The Observatory has you feeling like you’re aging backwards, it’s so refreshing. Or is that the freshly squeezed orange juice talking?

Restaurants & Bars

- Tragaluz - artistic international cuisine focused on Asian, Mediterranean and Peruvian flavors.

- The Observatory - a breakfast buffet located on the 11th floor with great views of Lima and the Pacific Ocean.

- Belo Bar - a stylish cocktail bar popular with the locals

Location

Hugging the beachline at Playa La Estrella, the hotel is a breezy five minute walk from Museo de Arte Contemporaneo, Peru’s answer to MoMA, home to a stellar Latin American art collection from the 1950s to 1970s.
