The St. Regis Washington DC

Historic High Life

What it is

The pride of politicos, with 147 luxurious rooms, two topnotch restaurants, and a nightly champagne sabering that’s nothing less than legendary.

What it isn't

Poorly serviced. St. Regis butlers await to pamper you; you’ll also have limousine access, 24-hour room service, a fleet of loaner bikes, and expert concierges to assist with all your needs.

What we think

Built in eye candy Beaux Arts style in 1926, this storied retreat is as luxe as ever, thanks to sumptuously outfitted rooms where no detail is overlooked. Even starter rooms are large (for the District), at 350-square-feet, and adorned in Architectural Digest-worthy decor, from tufted gold headboards to spindled mahogany bedside tables. (Bonus: amenities are worthy of any visiting dignitary, including DVD players, HBO, and Bose alarm clocks). Want to spread your wings a bit? Book the Caroline Astor Suite, which is 700 square feet of powdery Tiffany blue upholstery, Pratesi linens and a soaking tub that’s nothing less than heavenly after a day hoofing it through Smithsonians. While you’re here, don’t miss brunch at Alhambra, which is nothing less than President-worthy (get the thick brioche French toast with roasted pear and chantilly cream).

You're here because

The pampering includes pets. Four-legged guests of the St. Regis Washington, D.C., will be treated to everything from doggie toiletries to martini-shaped cookies during their stay.

The Moment

Rubbing elbows over signature Bloody Mary’s in the gleaming panelled St. Regis Bar, it’s hard to tell who is a congressperson and who is simply a wannabe. After two drinks, you yourself may throw a hat in the ring. We’ll cheers to that.
