Shangri-La Hotel, Vancouver
Sky Scraping Luxury
What it is
Housed in Vancouver’s tallest skyscraper: a 119 room paean to zen living with a blissful spa, rooftop pool and an Instagrammy Jean-Georges restaurant.
What it isn't
Low-tech. You’ll find you can control your curtains and lights like a wizard with buttons right by your bed.
What we think
CEOs from every industry flock to Shangri-La Hotel like moths to a particularly glamorous flame. It’s easy to see why, when each guest room—reportedly the largest in town—rolls out the proverbial red carpet, with soaking tubs, granite-lined (and enormous) bathrooms complete with flatscreen TVs, and Nespresso machines that will get you perked up for the day’s exploits with a jolt. It’s a good idea to upgrade to an Executive Balcony King Room; each has corner views from floor to ceiling windows and a 500-600-square-foot floor plan (plus, yes, a balcony). We also love the nearly 1,400-square-foot Orchid Suite, which is fittingly brimming with orchids—and a jaw-dropping panorama of the cityscape from its plush white-on-white living room.
You're here because
You love a deal, and kids under six eat free in the restaurant’s buffet—which is good, because your little one is as ravenous as sasquatch.
The Moment
The only thing you enjoy more than a post-workday swim? A post workday swim on the roof. Up here, the city before you, you feel a little like the orca you saw playing in the harbor waters this morning. Blissful.

Location
Just a few blocks from Vancouver’s harbor. Don’t leave town without stopping by Granville Island Public Market, where you can sample food from across the globe (the pillowy pierogies are unforgettable).
