Ett Hem

Style Star

What it is

A 1910 Arts & Crafts home transformed into a 12-room, Wes Anderson-worthy respite, with a locavore restaurant, Swedish sauna and secret garden tucked in a courtyard.

What it isn't

Lazy bones. The 24/7 gym is stocked with a pilates reformer and Technogym equipment. Nearby: a Swedish sauna and even a slab of hot stone where you’re encouraged to unwind after a workout.

What we think

The design cognoscenti audibly gasped when Ett Hem opened its doors. Lovingly styled Nordic hotels are nothing new, but this one felt next-level: a fairytale travelers could step into for a truly transformative retreat. Even starter Double Rooms are dressed in Swedish staples: gleaming oak, fluffy sheepskin, and Gotland stone finishes. Upgrade to a suite for a four post bed, marble soaking tub and tiled stove that looks like it sprung from the pages of Hansel and Gretel. Throughout, ornate crown moldings, glitzy antique crystal chandeliers, and herringbone flooring provides a timelessly charming aesthetic. While you’re here, you’ll be treated like a long-lost friend by staffers—one reason guests book here year after year.

You're here because

It’s a member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World (i.e., guaranteed to be fabulous). And the common living spaces include a library of well-thumbed tomes you want to curl up with.

The Moment

Chefs here make their menu decisions the day-of, a tactic that ensures absolute seasonal delectibility. Your favorite part? The fact that the kitchen is open to you, as if you actually live here...late-night snacking encouraged.

Restaurants & Bars

Welcome to dine at any time in the Kitchen or the Library - international specialties with a Scandinavian touch

Location

A quiet neighborhood a leafy five block walk from Humlegården, a beloved local park since the 1500s, when it was founded by King Johan III to grow hops and fruit.
