What we think

Everyone goes to Marrakech expecting a little magic, and Four Seasons Resort Marrakech delivers. Guest rooms manage to be both modern and intricately Moorish at the same time, with their rich, spicy color palette of oranges and chocolate browns and generous floor plans that start at a whopping 452 square feet. (Each one is outfitted as if for Moroccan royalty, too, with marble-lined bathrooms and private balconies and patios that are perfect for sipping mint tea while listening to the desert birds chirp). For an especially fanciful experience, we love the Upper Pavilion Room, which has a 538 square foot floor plan and complete with an arched outdoor living room and panorama over the gardens below. If you’re traveling with a group, you can’t do much better than the Four Bedroom Royal Villa with a Private Pool—it sleeps 8 and includes a mirror-like al fresco pool and flickering fireplace in an interior salon. This being a Four Seasons, every luxury is at-the-ready for your stay no matter which room you pick—including down pillows, white robes, iPod docking stations, DVD players and a minibar.

The Moment

After steaming and steeping in the spa’s mosaic-tiled hammam, you’re given a thoroughly Moroccan treatment: an Atlas Mountains clay body mask, followed by a tisane (tea) in the lush gardens. Aaaah.
