Hotel Sacher Wien
What it is
A celeb-magnet since 1876, with an iconic restaurant and chocolate-inspired day spa.
What it isn't
For grown-ups only. The hotel is renowned for rolling out a wee carpet for kids; they’ll be treated to welcome gifts, a booklet guide, mini robes and slippers and even their very own turndown service.
What we think
What do John F. Kennedy, Queen Elizabeth II and Justin Bieber have in common? It’s not a bad joke. They’re all onetime guests of this ulta-luxury hotel. And no wonder: the word “no” is famously not in the staffers’ lexicon. Guest rooms are well-worthy of royals, thanks to glimmering crystal chandeliers, gilt and antique finishes and a free (non-alcoholic) minibar they can raid at their leisure. Upgrade to a Junior Suite for a marble bathroom complete with heated floors (the ultimate luxury) and a prime overlook on the State Opera. Of the six on-site restaurants, you can’t miss the red damask-lined dining room of Rote Bar, where you’ll sup on black forest cake by candlelight as the pianist plays into the night.
You're here because
You can picture yourself canoodling with Kennedy under the brocade walls at the Blaue Bar—or maybe that’s the 18-year-old Glenfiddich whisky talking.
You’re just as much a chocoholic as the next guy, but you never considered it a beauty treatment—until now. In the Sacher Boutique Spa, you’re as blissed out as ever thanks to the Dream of Chocolate treatment—which starts with a firming scrub and ends with a blissed out massage that’s the definition of good enough to eat.
