Housed in a landmarked 15th-century palazzo, this pastel pink hotel stands out from its neighbors along the Grand Canal. A luxury boutique hotel of regal beauty, it’s a trove of antique furniture, original frescoes, marble staircases and classically Venetian details. The 42 rooms and suites—many of them decorated in soothing pink hues to match the exterior—may have painted ceilings, or stucco walls carved with birds and animals, or a balustraded balcony that used to house the Sagredo family library. Others are less grand, but most have Grand Canal views, parquet floor, velvet tufted headboards, and Murano chandeliers. The location, across from the Rialto food market, is ideal for those who want to avoid the crowds of the Piazza San Marco, which is still just a short boat ride away on the hotel’s private vaporetto. Foodies will want to take advantage of the hotel’s culinary experiences, such as market visits with a chef, cooking classes and private meals at L’Alcova’s chef’s table.
