Hotel Alfonso XIII

A Luxury Collection Hotel

What it is

An icon commissioned by its namesake, King Alfonso XIII, for the 1929 Exposition.

What it isn't

Spare and minimalist. If you heart intricately filigreed architecture, this is your spot.

What we think

Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly and Sophia Loren reportedly laid their heads here, so if you’re looking for a cinematic stunner, this is it. Even the smallest rooms (from 226 square feet, they’re built for singles) are charming from every angle, with Moorish bedside lanterns, opulent nailhead-trimmed headboards and wingback chairs, and—this being Spain—local wines awaiting in the minibar. Upgrading to the 1,500-square-foot Alfonso XIII suite may be entirely worth it, especially for design fiends, who’ll delight in the inlaid marble flooring, blue and white tiled paneling and mother-of-pearl cabinet in the stucco dining room (yes, dining room). Don’t miss a selfie moment on the hotel’s intricately carved and painted staircase.

You're here because

You want to stay in a place that’s iconically “Seville,” with the perks of a major international chain, and this is part of the Marriott Luxury Collection.

The Moment

There’s nothing more fun than the live jazz Sunday brunch under floor-to-ceiling windows and tiled archways at the hotel’s Restaurante San Fernando—until you tuck into your dessert (chocolate coulant, coffee and tonka bean cream, with brandy mousse).
