What we think

While this 189-room hotel is blocks from city institutions like the Museo de Arte Moderno and La Diana Cazadora fountain, the hotel is also an art and architectural landmark thanks to a steel and glass tower by architect Cesar Pelli and interiors by Yabu Pushelberg. Rooms and common spaces blend contemporary elements (candelabrums and lighting fixtures by Sharon Marston; Moss & Lam-designed walls) with refined Mexican design (custom metal and leather work; boldly colored custom carpets). However, It’s the people and programming that define the St. Regis experience. Guests are assigned personal butlers for favors big (buying a last minute gift for a friend) and small, like pressing a suit or delivering coffee and a newspaper. The hotel’s concierge desk also has a cultural curator who does more than just call for restaurant reservations and show tickets. They can secure guided tours of museums, arrange in-suite shopping and smuggle you into exhibit or restaurant openings that are typically closed to the public. Finally, of the hotel’s five restaurants, snag one of the 12 seats at La Table Krug where plates like smoked artichoke and black cod with truffles are paired with champagnes.
