The NoMad Hotel

Anchor of the next hot neighborhood

What it is

An instant hot spot in an up-and-coming neighborhood.

What it isn't

Ideally located for first-time visitors or the unadventurous (the neighborhood is safe but still gentrifying).

What we think

The Ace Hotel is rightly credited with putting the NoMad neighborhood (the area north of Madison Square Park) on the map. But it took the NoMad Hotel to make it safe for high-end travelers. Unlike the tight accommodations at the hip but budget-friendly Ace, the NoMad's rooms are comfortably sized and inviting, if not quite plush. French designer Jacques Garcia gave the 168 rooms and suites the feeling of a slightly bohemian Parisian flat, with broken-in leather couches, clawfoot tubs, framed photographs and just-tattered-enough rugs. Things get sexier downstairs, where the restaurant, helmed by chef Daniel Humm of Eleven Madison Park fame, dominates. A series of interconnected rooms—Victorian parlor, wood-paneled library, glassed-in atrium—is the backdrop for Humm's intricate but approachable dishes, like the roast chicken stuffed with black truffles and foie gras. Around the corner, the NoMad Bar is an always-crowded showcase for cocktail master Leo Robitschek, whose innovative creations help keep the hotel at the center of the neighborhood buzz.

You're here because

You're no stranger to New York, and you want to impress locals with your hotel savoir faire.

The Moment

The rich fragrance of black truffle tickles your nose as the signature whole-roasted chicken for two is set down in front of you.

Restaurants & Bars

The Restaurant at The NoMad - The NoMad Hotel has a casually elegant food and beverage program under the supervision of Chef Daniel Humm and Restaurateur Will Guidara. Inspired by Chef Daniel’s time spent throughout Switzerland, California, and New York City, the restaurant is rooted in the same traditions found at their critically acclaimed, Michelin three-star rated Eleven Madison Park.

Location

NoMad, a rapidly changing neighborhood where halal takeout joints and wholesale perfume suppliers are transforming into fashionable boutiques and trendy restaurants. It's centered on Broadway between Madison Square and Herald Square, within walking distance of Eataly, the Empire State Building and Gramercy Park.
