What we think

Nizuc Resort & Spa brings Riviera Maya–style luxury even closer to home. It's located just an avocado's throw from the Cancún airport, on the jungle-covered tip of the Zona Hotelera and within striking distance of the city's restaurants and shops. Yet it still feels like a private retreat, with two beaches, four pools and six restaurants. The 274 suites and villas are all spacious, beginning at almost 1,000 square feet; private infinity pools make the garden rooms no less desirable than the ocean-view units. (There are also residences suitable for families or groups.) The overall sensibility here is more Asian than Mexican, with neutral tones and latticed sliding doors—in fact, the project was originally intended as an Aman, but is now managed by the Mexican Las Brisas group. They've ensured a high level of service, excellent food and elevated offerings such as a live jazz band, cigar lounge and sushi-making classes. There's also an ESPA and elaborate fitness facilities.
