COMO Point Yamu
What it is
A modern, Paola Navone-designed delight perched above Cape Yamu and the shimmering Andaman Sea.
What it isn't
Spare and streamlined. Navone injected the interiors with a heady dose of fun, in the form of sculptural furniture and Thai turquoise hues.
What we think
Thailand has a reputation for being busy and bustling, but that’s not always justified. Case in point: COMO Point Yamu, which is as peaceful as Khao San Road is frenetic. Each guest room is a study in simplicity—bleach white Egyptian cotton linens, blue and white tiled floors—intended to draw your eye to the postcard-perfect view of the bay just beyond your floor to ceiling windows. The fact that staffers include stretching experts and fitness instructors to give you a proper tune up is just gravy.
You're here because
You’d like to be able to explore the city without losing your mind; COMO offers the best of both worlds, plus myriad on-site activities that will drop your jaw, including bait fishing and snorkeling via Thai long-tail boat.
The monoliths rising from the sea of Phang Nga Bay are what Instagram dreams are made of. There’s one thing better than kayaking by them, and that’s kayaking by at dusk. Tonight, you light candlelit krathongs (floating gifts to the sea god) to float across the water, then eye bioluminescence as it turns the seawater into the stars above. Magic is real.
A mere 25-minute limo ride from the airport in Phuket, and yet a world away: serene, leafy, lovely.
