COMO Metropolitan Miami Beach

Tranquility with a wellness bent

What it is

A luxury Deco gem on the northern edge of South Beach.

What it isn't

A party—though if you need to hear the bass drop, the South Beach scene is just a 15-minute walk away.

What we think

COMO's first American property—the Singapore-based group runs hotels in Bangkok, Bali, Bhutan and more—is a revamp of a landmark 1939 building on the northern frontier of South Beach. What was once the Traymore Hotel is now a seven-floor tower with just 74 rooms (11 of them suites), stylishly and respectfully redone by Italian designer Paola Navone. It's a more dignified version of the kitschy neon Deco you'll find a few blocks south: the walls are stark white, globe-shaped lights cluster above the reception desk, low couches and armchairs are scattered around the lobby's pink terrazzo floors. Guest rooms also feel instantly classic, with pistachio walls, glass lamps and tufted white headboards. Wellness is a constant theme: the rooftop COMO Shambhala Urban Escape has a hydrotherapy pool, Dr. Hauschka skincare treatments, holistic products and relaxation beds that gaze out at the Atlantic. There's also a juice bar and a restaurant that serves outstanding, healthy-leaning farm-to-table cuisine.

You're here because

You want a clean, calm and urbane home base during your Miami visit.

The Moment

Miami’s photogenic clouds fill the view from your window and the palm trees bend on the beach as you return to your room from a relaxing massage on the terrace.
