Canyon Ranch Tucson

Tucson, Arizona

What it is

A legendary resort with an 80,000-square-foot spa that’s been a veritable celeb magnet since it opened in 1979.

What it isn't

Dated. Sure, it’s been around, but Canyon Ranch triumphs at always being thoroughly “now”—just look at on-site (and thoroughly on-trend) offerings like Botox and Latisse for proof.

What we think

You won’t find any alcoholic drinks on the menus at Canyon Ranch—and you won’t miss it. The resort has perfected clean living, from its placid-yet-pampering rooms (note the pillow menu with 20 options) to the on-site expert-lead wellness programs (want to develop a nutrition program for life that you’ll actually stick to? This is the spot to do it). We love that the brand’s Tucson location—the one that kick-started their empire—is set in the tranquil Santa Catalina Mountains, with a 12,000-square-foot aquatic center complete with a Watsu pool and an L Pool with underwater HydroWorx treadmills. This may be the only divine vacation you’ll ever take where you return home lighter and more glowing than when you left.

You're here because

Your fee includes all meals, and there’s nothing you loathe more than trotting out your wallet every five minutes when you’re supposed to be on holiday.

The Moment

You thought that this would be a spa retreat like any other, and you couldn’t have been more wrong. On the agenda today: a tarot card reading and genealogy meeting so well-organized that you’ll leave with a family tree, something you’ve long longed for. When it comes time to hit the spa for a rosemary citron sea salt scrub and mud cocoon, you decide to call the front desk and extend your stay. What’s another week at the Ranch? At any price, it’s #WorthIt.

Sequestered in the Sonoran Desert deep in the heart of tony Tucson, you’re just eleven miles from Seven Falls—an 8.2 mile hike complete with a seasonal waterfall in Sabino Canyon.
