Amangiri

Breathtaking desert retreat

What it is

Modern design and high-end luxury amid the rugged wonder of nature.

What it isn't

On a well-traveled path. Getting here isn’t convenient, but it's the price you pay for vistas like this.

What we think

The landscape: an expanse of colorful, stratified rock under endlessly open sky. The setting: a quiet valley, completely invisible from the lone highway that snakes through this stretch of southern Utah desert. The aesthetic: spare and angular, like a Donald Judd earthwork. This is Amangiri, a collection of 34 pavilions made of tinted concrete, white limestone, natural timber and a lot of glass, mirroring the textures of the desert and the the subtle spectrum of the dunes and plateaus. Designed in an open plan that flows seamlessly between indoors and out, and spaced well apart for privacy, the suites deliver the trademark Aman blend of exclusivity and minimalist luxury. Courtyards are equipped with fireplaces, while larger suites have plunge pools and stargazing terraces. Daybeds and lounge chairs are positioned to face the majestic desert vistas, unspoiled by any trace of humankind. Guests who do crave personal interaction can mingle over prickly pear margaritas at the photoshoot-ready pool. The candle-lit spa is a veritable temple to the rituals of releasing stress, rebalancing and reconnecting. You can board an early morning hot-air balloon ride, explore the area on foot or horseback with one of the resort’s incredibly knowledgeable guides, dust off a fossil at a paleontology site, or just sit back and listen to a Navajo elder’s tales about the land’s fabled history.

You're here because

You want to experience the beauty of the American Southwest, enhanced by striking architecture and the utter tranquility of an Aman.

The Moment

Under the open sky, nestled deep in the cushions of the roof terrace’s daybed, you edge closer to your partner and look up. The sky is alive with stars, more than you’ve ever seen.

Restaurants & Bars

The Dining Room - Sophisticated southwestern comfort food, however, the kitchen gets daily food orders and can order virtually anything and make any dish requested by the guest!

The Desert Lounge

Location

Pretty much the middle of nowhere: the resort sits on 600 acres of protected desert in southern Utah's canyon country. Guests fly into the regional airport in Page, Arizona, via Phoenix, Denver, or LAX; the half-hour transfer to the hotel is included in rates. Many clients combine a stay at Amangiri with visits to Grand Canyon National Park, the Colorado River, Monument Valley, Grand Staircase-Escalante, or Bryce and Zion National Parks.
