Lenox, Massachusetts
Miraval Berkshires Resort Spa
Lush Retreat
What it is
An all-inclusive, 100-room wellness getaway in the Berkshires’ rolling hills, with innumerable thrills, from equine therapy to golfing at adjacent Wyndhurst Manor & Glub, built in 1926.
What it isn't
A resort where tipping is allowed. We promise, not tipping is waaay more relaxing.
What we think
Miraval is about as far from resort-as-usual as it gets. Take the accommodations, where amenities include Tibetan singing bowls and meditation pillows (say “ommm”) alongside more traditional luxuries. We recommend booking a room in the recently revamped Discovery and Serenity Cottages, once a boys’ prep school, Cranwell, attended by Ted Kennedy. No matter where you sleep, your days will be chockablock with self-care; each day’s schedule is dotted with activities that range from learning the fundamentals of kayaking to guided photography walks, included in your rate. (Though it’s definitely worth paying extra for certain offerings, like the “Appreciating Chocolate” class and “Hatchet Throwing.”)
You're here because
The 380 acre property was designed by Frederick Law Olmstead—a.k.a. the mastermind of Central Park.
The Moment
You’ve been feeling more than a little downtrodden lately, and it’s starting to show on your face. But one session in the spa, complete with a Triple Power Peel that’s exactly as plumping as it sounds, and you could swear you look 28 again. Bliss.

Location
Smack dab in the center of Lenox (established 1750), just a couple blocks from The Mount, writer Edith Wharton’s estate. Boston’s a cinematic three hour drive east.
