Pamalican Island, Philippines
Amanpulo
Private Island Paradise
What it is
A pristine private island in the Cuyo Archipelago, with gleaming wood casitas and villas, a kite and surf center, and hilltop, jungle-flanked spa surrounded.
What it isn't
Peckish. The resort has five exquisite restaurants that pull from the island’s organic gardens, including a sand-side Lagoon Club and Tokyo-worthy sushi joining, Nama, where Master Chef Keiji Matoba transforms Japanese fish into edible art.
What we think
Pack your breezy linen pants and flip flops. An effortless, easygoing feeling pervades every inch of Amanpulo—it’s as if a Vacationland took a vacation. Take the “starter” room category, the 731-square-foot Hillside Casitas: each one has vaulted ceilings, deep soaking tubs, rain showers, pebble-washed walls, and hammocks awaiting on their sunswept private decks. Book a Beach Casita to stroll onto the sand from your sundeck, or upgrade to a One-Bedroom Villa to treat yourself to your own immaculate al fresco pool and a doting private chef and butler. Activities are jaw-dropping, including a PADI dive center, sunset cruises via pontoon and stargazing by astronomical refracting telescope. While you’re here, we recommend asking if the green and hawksbill turtles are nesting—on Pamalican Island, they typically emerge from their nests by moonlight to enter the glass-clear sea, March through October.
You're here because
You crave pampering luxury, even (or especially?) when you’re visiting a far-flung island paradise. Aman has tucked Nespresso machines, marble accents, personal bars, WiFi, and sound systems into each and every room category here.
The Moment
In your bougainvillea-shrouded treatment pavilion in the spa, you’re rubbed down with quartz scrub and wrapped in marine flora mud. The only thing more blissful? Knowing you’ll be back again tomorrow, and the next day, and the next.
