Punta Cana, Dominican Republic
Eden Roc Cap Cana
Style by the Sea
What it is
Eden Roc Cap Cana is a lush beachside resort with 60 lagoon-side villas and sumptuous suites.
What it isn't
Hands off. This is a Relais & Châteaux property—in fact, the Dominican Republic’s only one—and staff are appropriately doting.
What we think
Christopher Columbus must have been over-the-top gleeful when he hit La Hispaniola in 1492. It would have had the same crystalline waters and powdered sugar white beaches it offers up today. Eden Roc Cap Cana sits on the Dominican Republic side of the isle, specifically on the 30,000-acre Cap Cana development, with amenities Columbus could never have dreamt of. Take the 3,000 square meter Solaya Spa, where you can opt for a diamond dust massage that utilizes oil from Moroccan Damask roses; the Jack Nicklaus-designed seaside golf course that’s been a PGA Champions tour stop for three years running; the three bars and restaurants on-site, including La Cava, inspired by Mediterranean wine cellars (order the Sacramento valley squab with wine pears and cardamom reduction). Rooms at Eden Roc Cap Cana are awash in sea blues and textures—rattan, linen— plus only in the Caribbean touches, like coral stone bathtubs. Oh, and did we mention daily breakfast is included in the rate? You want the mashed plantain, deep fried cheese and Dominican salami, plus a Nutella crepe on the side.
You're here because
The kids programs at Eden Roc Cap Cana are more pampering than any grandma. Expect a mini spa for pint sized glamazons (manis! pedis!) in the treehouse-inspired clubhouse.
The Moment
Solaya Spa is brand new—30,000 square feet of anti-gravity yoga, freshwater pools, and even a wellness bar for fresh-pressed juice. But that’s not what you came for. Today, you’re here to try something as Dominican as it comes: the coffee wrap and scrub, applied in an open-air cabana set along the sea. The only thing more invigorating than coffee is a sea mist from head to pampered toe.
