Almanac Palais Vienna
Regal Elegance
What it is
Tucked into two former palaces, this brand new 80 suite and 31 room hotel has an alpine-inspired restaurant and waterfall-fed marble-lined indoor pool.
What it isn't
Soulless. The architects and designers behind the Almanac whipped up a historic-feeling, soulful spread you’ll never want to leave.
What we think
If “Serenity Now” is your mantra on vacation, look no further. Almanac Palais Vienna combines timeless, centuries-old elegance with the sort of peaceful aesthetic more typically found in Japanese ryokans: clean lines and custom details abound. Most rooms here are suites, and each is a “wow” moment—fitted with sculptural lighting fixtures, ornate LED-lit headboards and sumptuous king sized beds. Rooms start at a plushly appointed 376 square feet; to sprawl out with friends and family, we love the two-level, 839 square foot Duplex Suite or…a true splurge, and entirely worth it, the Vienna Art Suite, which feels like your own artwork-stocked Museum of Fine Arts, in an expansive 2,045 square feet.
You're here because
The indoor pool is the most exquisitely beautiful one you’ve ever seen…and perfect for a restorative dip after a day on the cobblestones.
The Moment
Chef Andreas Mahl is helming the Donnersmarkt Restaurant here, and he’s taken a delightful muse for his menus: the Viennese farmers markets. The only thing rivaling the locally sourced dishes before you? The delicious design that drops your jaw at every turn.
