Four Seasons Hotel Megeve
Fairytale Chalet
What it is
A storied alpine retreat reborn for today, with a Michelin starred chef, 15,000-bottle-deep wine cellar, ultra-luxe spa, indoor-outdoor pool and more.
What it isn't
Just for grownups. The red carpet treatment extends to littles and teens alike: there’s a mountain-inspired kid’s club complete with starry ceilings and a game room with a theater and video games galore for teens 11-17.
What we think
It bodes well for luxury-addicts that this resort was originally launched by banking kingpin Edmond de Rothschild himself. Under Four Seasons, it’s everything one could ever want from a getaway in the French Alps—including a ski-in, ski-out locale, show-stopping seasonal golf course, ski concierge and golf valet, and eight delectable bars and restaurants, each one more unforgettable than the last. Guest rooms are a more modern version of an alpine fantasy, with ornate yet clean-lined woodwork, calming palettes of snow whites and taupes, marble-lined bathrooms, and deep soaking tubs that are ideal for post-slalom steeps. Set under a pitched roof, the 1,280-square-foot Suite Mont D’Arbois is a heavenly hideaway for families and friends, complete with a balcony and separate living room worthy of Architectural Digest. This being a Four Seasons, service is exemplary for all guests. Every detail is thought of, whether you’re hankering for a downy bed or prefer twice daily housekeeping and turndown service.
You're here because
You will never hear “I’m bored” here; a multitude of activities on offer include everything from dog sledding to horse-drawn skiing.
The Moment
Chef Anne-Sophie Pic is known by foodies across the globe for her glittering Michelin stars, but at the hotel’s La Dame de Pic—Le 1920, all that matters to you is the dishes in front of you, which look like nothing less than edible art. Your favorites so far? A caviar sea bass in foamy champagne sauce and roe deer marinated in smoked vanilla.
