Design Luminary
What it is
A Philippe Starck-designed hideaway with a pampering spa and sports club (complete with a 72-foot pool, steam room and salt cave), plus restaurants by a former Ritz Paris chef.
What it isn't
On a diet. The on-site pastry offerings by Yann Brys—Awarded Best Craftsman of France in 2011—may bring tears to your eyes. Get the lemon and yuzu tartlet.
What we think
Tucked inside a 1970s postal sorting center is a hotel that’s beyond worth writing home about. Redesigned by Philippe Starck, the 52-room retreat is a lesson in expecting the unexpected. Even the “starter” rooms are jaw droppers, with 1930s furniture, well-curated mini libraries, and rosewood-lined walls. But given that this is Paris (Paris!) we think it’s worth splurging on one of the suites with a terrace stocked with a Norwegian wood hot tub overlooking the Eiffel Tower. Yes, you read that right. The “Suzanne” has that, plus private access to the kitchen garden, a separate living room, and a pantry. Guests love that they have free range access to the hotel’s pools, where aquaboxing, aquapilates and even aquapoledancing (yep, it’s a thing) are offered.
You're here because
The hotel has a staff of Gwyneth Paltrow-level wellness gurus, should you want to consult a dietitian, naturopath, osteopath…or just find your own path.
The Moment
There’s only one thing better than a day wandering the cobblestones in Paris, and that’s sipping an Evok Spritz—St. Germain, Aperol, orange bitters and champagne—in the buzzing cocktail bar as you recount the day’s exploits with friends new and old.
