Villa La Coste

Provencal Perfection

What it is

An artful 494-acre wine estate studded with 28 villas, four restaurants and a spa that culls many of its earthy treatment options from local fields.

What it isn't

A brand new vintage. Vineyards have dotted these cypress-lined Provencal hills since Roman times.

What we think

If you’ve ever wanted to chuck it all, live an IRL Hollywood movie, and move to a vineyard in Provence, consider Villa La Coste as your end point. Suites and villas here are elegantly streamlined, yet warm, putting the focus on the surrounding flora and fauna through floor to ceiling wrought iron French doors. We love the Pavilion Suite, with its tree-flanked terrace and deep marble soaking tub; the two-level Pool Villa Suite is stocked with a canopy bed draped in gauzy cloud-white curtains; a courtyard with a private pool; and a walk-in rain shower. Whichever room you pick, expect full-throttle luxury, including Japanese toilets, walk-in dressing rooms; Dyson hair dryers; and loaner Nespresso machines upon request. All the luxe touches continue throughout the property’s grounds (note the art gallery designed by none other than Renzo Piano).

You're here because

Service is top notch enough to pamper any megawatt celeb, including daily breakfasts and wine tastings; an art and architecture tour of the property; 24-hour concierges and 24-hour room service; private pilates and yoga lessons; laundry service...the list goes on.

The Moment

You’re not surprised Argentine star chef Francis Mallmann has a restaurant here. You’re just surprised it’s this good. Cooked over an open fire, every seemingly simple dish—including tagliatelle with almonds and candied tomatoes, and polenta orange cake—is as alive as you feel.

Restaurants & Bars

Villa La Coste Restaurant - offers fresh and seasonal products from Provençal markets and from the organic kitchen garden

Francis Mallmann - Argentinian restaurant

Cafe Restaurant Tadao Ando - offers elegant dishes, gourmet salads, sweet notes, all enhanced by fragrant wines

La Terrasse - offers fresh salads, cold soups, homemade pies, mature cheeses and organic cold meats

The verdant vineyards just outside Aix-en-Provence. It’s worth making the 27 minute drive to Senanque Abbey, where monks grow lavender and harvest honey on the grounds of the 12th century, Romanesque-style abbey.
