Frankfurt, Germany
Steigenberger Frankfurter Hof
Living Legend
What it is
A circa 1876 grande dame with 303 sumptuous rooms, a library bar and brasserie, and an 11,000-square-foot spa with a gleaming hammam.
What it isn't
Low-powered. The breakfast here is a Frankfurt icon, with a bounteous spread of pastries, egg station, and so much more.
What we think
Traditionalists with a penchant for great service will feel truly pampered at Steigenberger Frankfurter Hof…by design. Even the most “basic” guest room is anything but; the 269 square foot Superior Queen Rooms are adorned in ornate wallpapers, tasseled draperies, and come with perks like flatscreens and Acqua di Parma toiletries. We love the Junior Suite for its gleaming interior; it’s enough like a high-roller retreat to make any vacation more fun, with its rain shower and deep soaking tub, dazzling bar, and sweeping nearly 500 square foot floor plan.
You're here because
The spa is worth the trip to Frankfurt alone, with its on staff yogi for lessons, radiance-boosting collagen facial treatments, and hot stone massages.
The Moment
You’ve happily ensconced yourself for the evening in a supple leather wingback chair at Autorenbar, “Author’s Bar,” the hotel’s library-like lounge. You think you might see a young Hemingway across from you…but it may be the smoked whiskey talking.
