Mykonos, Greece
Myconian Kyma
Colorful and Cool
What it is
A Midcentury-inspired seafront getaway with all the trimmings, including 81 stylish rooms, multiple outdoor pools, a thalassotherapy spa, and poolside bar and restaurant.
What it isn't
Fugly. The hotel is a member of Design Hotels, and appropriately artful.
What we think
When you close your eyes and envision Mykonos, this hotel is probably what springs to mind: a place where most of the whitewashed rooms look right out to the salty turquoise Aegean Sea. We love the Artemis rooms for their 279 square foot floor plans plus a private balcony and furniture that seems inspired by the island itself (the sculptural finish above the headboard could well have been carved by wind on sand; the slatted blonde wood wall looks like it was reincarnated from a modern yacht). For a slightly larger space, we can’t get enough of the Horizon Superior Room; it has a marble-lined bathroom plus a private veranda with its own aqua plunge pool.
You're here because
The breakfast buffet is the definition of decadent, with all manner of organic eggs and housemade preserves and local wild honey for the fresh-from-the-oven bread.
The Moment
After dipping through the mineral enriched seawater pools in the thalassotherapy area, you go for the glow: a detoxing facial with an LED mask that leaves you feeling like Aphrodite arising from the Aegean.
