What it is

A lushly landscaped 22-acre all-inclusive on the waterfront, with Michelin-starred chefs helming the restaurants, cabanas on the sandy beach, and four (!) pools.

What it isn't

Forgetting the kids. Wee ones are pampered here, too, with a crèche and kids club, family-geared activities, teen exploits, an outdoor playground, and loaner equipment that frazzled parents find useful, including baby monitors.

What we think

All-inclusives have a reputation for “meh” design, but you may feel like you’ve wandered into an issue of Architectural Digest Goes to Greece when staying at Ikos Olivia. Every room is pure eye candy, from the color palette of sandy taupes and sea blues to windows that span the entire wall. We’d be thrilled even by the “starter” Superior Double Room, a 355 square foot retreat with a private balcony, rainshower, and Anne Semonin toiletries in the bathroom. But if you’re here to splurge, we recommend going for the 592 square foot Deluxe One Bedroom Bungalow Suite Private Pool, which is exactly as luxe as it sounds (and yes, your private pool overlooks the Aegean Sea).

Michelin-starred chef Ettore Bortini is the man behind the menus at the newly revamped Fresco restaurant, which has very much earned its “fresh” moniker. Tonight at your waterfront table, you’re so besotted with your fried burrata with tomatoes and basil that you may order another…and you do.
