Hotel Indigo Rome - St. George

History Reborn

What it is

A charm-filled 62-room boutique hotel built over a 16th-century stone foundation, with a Roman-bath inspired spa and rooftop bar and terrace.

What we think

When Italian starchitect Donato Bramante—famed for St. Peter’s Basilica—designed this structure in the 16th century, he could never have known what it would become: a sleek, art-filled hideaway rising out of his original structure that would wow any Pope. Guest rooms feature outsized murals, herringbone wood floors, rainfall showers, and Egyptian linens; we love the 430-square-foot 1 King Bed Junior Suite with Balcony for its separate living space and furnished balcony peeping out on the city’s terracotta rooftops. Don’t miss at least one dinner on the leafy rooftop terrace at locavore I Sofà Bar Restaurant & Roof Terrace, where regionally inspired dishes include venison carpaccio with chestnut cream and currant sauce.

You're here because

The spa is nothing less than exquisite, with its arched stone architectural details, Turkish bath, and treatments and massages

The Moment

After a day wandering the Eternal City, you’ve decided to stay ensconced in your suite tonight and treat yourself to room service. This menu alone—with caprese salad and prosciutto e mozzarella, plus prosecco straight from Veneto—was worth the trip.

Restaurants & Bars

I Sofà Bar Restaurant & Roof Terrace - A contemporary design location where modern details and vibrant colors perfectly blend with testimonies of a glorious past. Diners at I Sofà are surely not being disappointed thanks to our desire to provide our guests with an authentic experience by offering locally/regionally sourced products. We not only offer a truly Italian experience, but we also support local producers.

Location

A mere block from the River Tiber in the cobblestoned Ponte neighborhood, within a quick stroll of some of the city’s must-see sights, including Piazza Navona and the Pantheon (erected circa 118 AD and home to Raphael’s tomb).
