What we think
Castello Banfi Wine Resort sits on Montalcino’s biggest wine estate in a picturesque ancient castle. The 14-room hotel is an intimate and peaceful getaway that blends authentic Tuscan style with refined modern luxury. Upon arrival, a large stone gate opens to 7,000 acres of vineyards and what feels like a quaint historic village. This is mainly because the nine rooms and five suites are housed in 18th-century stone buildings that were once the homes of the estate’s workers. The buildings retain their original features like exposed wooden beams and tiled floors, but with the addition of modern bath fixtures and flat-screen TVs. During the day, soak up the views from hillside pool and then savor the Tuscan cuisine and some of the best wine in the region at the Sala dei Grappoli restaurant. It’s important to note that the hotel is open seasonally from March through November.
