InterContinental Barcelona

Modern Retreat

What it is

A gleaming 273-room jewel in a sleek new build, with an Eastern-inspired pool and spa and a buzzing rooftop bar thronged with locals.

What it isn't

Hungry. On-site restaurants include Quiarat, helmed by a Michelin-starred chef; dishes range from celery tacos with trout roe to Duroc pork chops with turnips.

What we think

Barcelona is an art-filled, design forward mecca, and its hotels should follow suit. So it’s especially impressive that InterContinental Barcelona has created a stay that combines the best of pampering hotel luxury with the types of design touches more often found in boutique hotels, from sculptural furniture to gemstone hues. The “standard” option is anything but, thanks to gleaming blonde wood built-in furniture, a Smart TV, and pieces that could be right at home at the Museum of Contemporary Art Barcelona. Traveling en famille? Book a Suite; each one is stocked with a separate living space, gratis flowers and zippy wifi, and LED light fixtures in the ceiling that cast your stay in a dreamy glow. Stop by the concierge for tailored (yet unexpected) itinerary ideas ranging from the FCB football museum to the Gothic Basilica of Santa Maria del Mar.

You're here because

You’ve grown addicted to IHG’s luxe service options, which include turndown, shoe shines, on-call doctors, private limousine transfers, and so much more.

The Moment

Overlooking the cityscape under the twinkling fairy lights of 173 Rooftop Terrace, everything is a notch more magical—down to the ribeye with piquillo peppers, and a particularly toothsome pineapple cheesecake.

Restaurants & Bars

Quirat - AN exclusive space offering an author’s interpretation of the land and its products through a letter of dishes that responds to the various seasons and has been devised exclusively for the restaurant by Victor Torres, Spain’s youngest cook to win a Michelin star.

Arrel - Arrel honors the earth and all the precious products it gives us in each of the seasons through its open kitchen and an offer of rations to share.

Gebre Bar - Open to the local public and offers a unique environment conceived through a colorful palette that connects us to the world of the cocktail and the art-deco decoration of space.

Boira Coffee Lounge - Treat your palate to the sweetest side of gastronomy and enjoy a variety of cakes and desserts at The Boira Coffee Lounge.

173 Rooftop Terrace - A unique space to marvel at the stunning 360º panoramic views of the city’s skyline silhouette. Have Barcelona at your feet while enjoying a bespoke cocktail at the bar or swimming pool, and relax to the magical sound of music.

Location

Within the Sants-Montjuic district, a four block walk from Montjuic National Palace—a 1929 ode to Baroque style that is now stocked with art.
