Majestic Hotel And Spa
A hotel-turned-art museum
What it is
Beautifully curated digs in the city center.
What it isn't
Basic. Even the guest rooms feel like galleries.
What we think
Freshly revamped to the tune of $30 million, the neoclassical hotel on Barcelona’s Passeig de Gracia is an art lover’s delight, with 1,000 pieces on display. Another example of attention to detail: the hiring of Michelin-starred Catalan chef Nandu Jubany. At the Majestic, the eagle-eyed staffers have thought of every coddling comfort: a rain shower in your Ibiza marble–lined bath, jet lag-curing massages in the sp, and a rooftop swimming pool with a Crayola-bright mural by Philip Stanton. Other works throughout the property include pieces by Anish Kapoor, Richard Deacon and Spanish artists Gerardo Rueda and Lluis Lleó—so you won’t mind one bit returning here after an afternoon at the Fundació Joan Miró.
You're here because
There’s no better turn-down service than a glass of rioja on the poolside rooftop bar.
At Sunday brunch, you’re still so foggy from a night on the city that you can scarcely believe your eyes at the buffet line: turbot in saffron sauce? Foie tartlets? Orange-blossom financiers? You’re not dreaming. Many Michelin-starred chefs would scoff at breakfast duty, but Nandu Jubany has turned brunch into something truly worthy of the name Majestic.
