An authentic Bodrum gem
What we think
Skylark only includes hotels that meet our stamp of approval. Our editorial review for this one isn’t ready yet — but we’re working on it! Below is the hotel’s own description.
Overlooking the turquoise waters of the Aegean - backed up by hills, Macakizi is situated on the north side of the Bodrum peninsula in a lovely village called Turkbuku. Adorned with vibrant bougainvillea and luscious plants, Macakizi sits against the sapphire seas of the Aegean. It has a mesmerizing setting, simple yet very elegant. Initially Ayla Emiroglu established a pension and a private beach in 1977 in Bodrum. Ayla Emiroglu, with a keen eye for all things tranquil and natural, created a heaven for all guests. Her original aim to create an inspiring environment for writers, painters, other intellectuals and all, with her bed and breakfast service, continued to evolve and grow as Bodrum through out the years. The seeds of the Macakizi concept continues to flourish with the vision and contemporary mind of Aylas son Sahir-Since 2000 Macakizi is located in Turkbuku and along with its private and popular beach, it is transformed into a beautiful boutique hotel. This unique haven is now being carried into the new millennium and further.
