LHotel Montreal
Artful Idyll
What it is
An art-filled, 59-room boutique hotel in an 1870 French Revival grande dame of Old Montreal, with a locally-loved wine bar.
What it isn't
Poorly serviced. Amenities include continental breakfasts, dry cleaning and laundry service, doting concierges, a gym, and more.
What we think
You know a hotel’s attention to detail is exacting when their art collection includes such boldfaced names as Warhol, Lichtenstein, Chagall, Botero, and Damien Hirst. They’re all part of the collection at LHotel Montreal, owner of the property and founder of denim icon Guess Jeans. His aesthete’s approach can be found everywhere here, especially in the Louis-Philippe-style rooms, home to sky-high ceilings, toiletries by Gilchrist & Soames, and beds you’ll want to sink into and never leave. Art fiends will find it worth upgrading to a King Suite, which is likely to feature work by everyone from Roy Lichtenstein to Robert Indiana—plus an electric fireplace and plush terrycloth bathrobes for admiring it in style.
You're here because
Gratis wifi and bottomless Al Van Houtte Coffee will ensure you get your work done.
The Moment
You’re feeling particularly peppy this morning, thanks to the continental breakfast at the hotel. Where else can you leisurely take in the local paper, croissants galore and an Instagram-perfect fruit plate from a zebra-print perch? You never want to leave.
Location
In central Old Montreal, a short stroll from the Montreal Museum of Archeology and History and the Montreal Science Centre on the river, where IMAX awaits.
