What it is
A cheekily designed 277-room respite with a rooftop pool, gym, and buzzing American craft restaurant and cocktail bar.
What it isn't
Poorly serviced. Expect a 24-hour concierge, zippy WiFi throughout the grounds, valet dry cleaning, limo service and gratis electric car charging stations.
What we think
If you had to sum up this desert delight in two words, it would undoubtedly be Instagrammable luxury. Even the starter rooms—plenty large at 350 square feet—are pampering and aesthetically stellar, with their marble-lined bathrooms, sculptural lighting fixtures and unexpected artwork (yes, that’s a gleaming bronze art piece affixed to the ceiling above the bed). Each one has 24-hour room service, a mini fridge with coffee and tea, and every other nicety you’ve come to expect from Marriott brands like the Autograph Collection—including iPod docks, a work station, and a Bluetooth speaker for afternoon dance parties. To spread out further, book an Uptown Suite; they begin at 700 square feet and have fully separate living rooms (ask for one with a mountain view, you won’t regret it).
You're here because
The rooftop pool has a cocktail bar, and the only thing that makes post-flight swim sessions more fun is a tipple of something cold and frothy.
There’s something about the mood at Artizen that feels more Paris than Phoenix—but, you think, that’s a testament to just how ineffably cool Phoenix has gotten. Slinked away in your indigo blue banquette under twinkling lights, you order what you had the last time you were in a Left Bank brasserie: an herb-marinated flat iron steak with black garlic butter. This one is even better.
