A boutique hotel anchoring Denver’s up-and-coming Dairy Block district.
For fans of the mass-produced. As suggested by the name, the focus here is on connoisseurship and artisanal goods.
The Maven resides in a hotbed of craftsmanship: the Dairy Block micro-district, where designer shops, coffee bars, homemade jewelry boutiques and more are occupying the former Windsor Dairy in Denver’s Lower Downtown (LoDo) neighborhood. The hotel aims to integrate the local community, which is why arriving guests are greeted by a 10-foot-high hand hanging from the ceiling, fashioned out of reclaimed wood by Denver artist Andrew Ramiro Tirado. Four hundred or so other works by locals are spread throughout the hotel—we especially love the colorful collages by Mario Zoots. Room amenities, like standing desks and pour-over coffee systems, are on-trend, as are the Southwestern food at Kachina and the old-timey cocktails at Poka Lola.
You want to stay smack in the middle of Denver’s energetic urban revival and rub shoulders with the city’s emerging creative class.
The rush of the final innings and the cheers of the Coors Field home crowd is still ringing in your ears as you slip onto a barstool at Poka Lola and study the cocktail list. The Havana-esque mural captures your attention, but it’s outmatched by the finesse of the bartender as he pours you a bright orange Dr. J.
