Washington, D.C.
InterContinental Washington D.C. - The Wharf
Sleek Stunner
What it is
A glossy tower on the Potomac River with streamlined guest rooms, a rooftop pool and bar, and another aptly named Watering Hole set yachtside on the marina.
What it isn't
Lacking a spa. This being D.C., the land of powerhouses, de-stressing treatments range from scalp therapy to shea butter and rosemary leaf massages.
What we think
Each and every guest is a V.I.P. here. Want proof? The amenities in the “starter” room category read like what you’d find in the penthouse suite in other hotels. The 340-square-foot Double Queen Rooms are fitted with glass-walled rain showers, Nespresso machines, bespoke toiletries from cult vegan brand Agraria, glowing LED-lit headboards, and spa-like perks, including lit makeup mirrors and plush terry cloth robes and slippers. To live like a Capitol Hill lobbyist, splurge on a suite; we particularly love the corner Constellation Suite, which has a wraparound balcony that peers out on the Potomac from the 12th floor, and the Water Suite—which has a Carolina Chickadee’s panorama over the waterscape and storied city beyond.
You're here because
The service is exemplary, and includes gratis newspapers and comped overnight shoeshines.
The Moment
Breakfast at the aptly named Dockside restaurant has you feeling as amped up as a Veep, the night before they take the Presidency. What’s a better power breakfast than a Maryland crab cake eggs benedict with hollandaise?
Restaurants & Bars
Moon Rabbit - A contemporary Vietnamese restaurant By Kevin Tien.
The Watering Hole - If you’re looking for a place to sit riverside, sip your beverage and sample specialty Snake River Farms all-beef wagyu hot dogs, The Watering Hole is the perfect spot.
WAVES Rooftop Deck - Order a light bite or enjoy one of our refreshing signature cocktails at a high top table overlooking the waves of the Potomac River and beyond.
Location
Set directly on a wharf beside the Potomac, just six blocks from the Thomas Jefferson Memorial and the International Spy Museum (a favorite of CIA wannabees).
