Miami Beach, Florida
Kimpton Surfcomber Hotel
Seafront Style
What it is
A newly revamped hideaway in an Art Deco hotel, with a thronged indoor/outdoor restaurant on Collins Avenue, organic spa, and a cabana-flanked pool.
What it isn't
Boring. The guest activity calendar includes everything from weekly aqua zumba and yoga classes on the beach to Splash Cycle classes for an added fee.
What we think
South Beach tastes best with a side of Art Deco—which is exactly what the Surfcomber, tucked into a historic Deco-era building, provides. Guest rooms (starting at 250 square feet) are adorned in neutral/nautical hues of sand, cloud white and brass; ask for one with a pool or beach view if you know what’s good for you. Or book a suite—many come with balconies nearly as large as the room, often overlooking the sceney palm tree-flanked pool. The Oceanfront Balcony Luxury Suite has a full 725 square feet of roaming space (including a separate living room), plus a terrace that peeps out on the sandy beach below. While you’re here, don’t miss the transcendent cafe con leche mani pedi in the K’alma Spa.
You're here because
Their manicured beach is nothing less than cinematic, with daybeds, fluffy towels and striped beach umbrellas primed for their turn in the spotlight.
The Moment
Happily roosted in your yellow rocking chair at High Tide, the hotel’s al fresco restaurant, you place the beachiest order imaginable: grilled mahi tacos and a caipirinha cocktail. Bliss.
