What we think

Call it a getaway for the cool kids. When André Balazs first founded Standard Hotels, his investors reportedly included Leonardo DiCaprio, Cameron Diaz, and Benecio del Toro, among others. The brand’s latest has the same wow factor you’d expect of a playland for Hollywood’s elite, including a speakeasy-inspired Monterrey Bar with a Murano glass chandelier and 1980s pop art and a waterfall hot tub that would keep DiCaprio’s latest lady love happy. Guest rooms have a restorative feel, thanks to a color palette of calm whites and blues; Egyptian cotton sheets; rain showers; bathrobes complete with hoods; and organic toiletries. For a more spacious room than the 230-square-foot Standard Medium option, we recommend treating yourself to a 415-square-foot Bath Terrace Large—it comes with a king-sized bed and al fresco soaking tub on your private terrace.
