South Lake Tahoe, Nevada
Edgewood Tahoe Resort
What it is
A 154-room lodge perched on Lake Tahoe’s cerulean shores, with waterside restaurants, a top-rated spa and one of the world’s prettiest golf courses.
What it isn't
Hungry. The three restaurants sate any craving, whether high (roasted bone marrow with Hawaiian sea salt and onion jam at The Bistro) or deliciously comforting (a bourbon butter charbroiled New York steak with duck fat and herb confit potatoes at Brooks’ Bar & Deck.)
What we think
Tahoe is way, way more than skiing—as Edgewood will attest. Golfers like Tiger Woods and Arnold Palmer flock here with their clubs from all corners of the globe to play the 1968 golf course, which straddles whitecapped mountains and the lake and was built by George Fazio (then later revamped by his nephew Tom Fazio). Played out? Plenty more adventures await here, including daily yoga by the lake and nightly s’mores at the fire pit. Guest rooms are comforting places to recharge for the next day’s exploits; each one is absolutely enormous at 500 square feet, with a gas fireplace, Frette robes and soaking tub for steeping with a glass of vino in-hand. To truly sprawl out, upgrade to a Edgewood Suite—you’ll have 1,000 square feet with a lake view, soaring ceilings, and a private terrace that seems tailor-made for sipping your morning Nespresso in peace.
You're here because
They’ve invested in aesthetics, a must in a naturally jaw-dropping destination. None other than Frank Gehry designed Brooks’ Bar & Deck, set betwixt the lake and the legendary gold course.
You can admit it. Between skiing, golf, and blackjack, Tahoe has worn you out. What better place for a refresh than the award-winning spa, which is so devoted to a holistic experience they’ll massage you with locally-sourced smoky quartz stones? Today, you go for Jetsons-worthy treatments. To start: an 02 Glow Facial that literally plumps your skin with hyperbaric oxygen. Then: a CBD massage that calms you to your core. Aaah.
