Cabarita Beach, Australia
Australia’s most unique beach-side property
What we think
Skylark only includes hotels that meet our stamp of approval. Our editorial review for this one isn’t ready yet — but we’re working on it! Below is the hotel’s own description.
The tranquil, carefree days of Australian summers passed will be recaptured at Halcyon House – Australia’s most unique beachside property. The former surfer motel turned luxury hotel is situated at one of the country’s best surf breaks and in one of its most idyllic beachfront towns – Cabarita Beach, Northern New South Wales. The area has a rich and colourful history. The town grew from a predominantly agricultural based existence with the farming of sugar cane and timber, to be more widely known for its beauty and tourist attractions, beginning in the 1950’s. Attractions such as water skiing on the Bogangar lake and even a glass bottom boat at the old Cabarita Pub. What has not changed is the natural beauty and timeless simple pleasures that Cabarita is renowned for.
