Félicité, the Seychelles
Six Senses Zil Pasyon
Private Island Paradise
What it is
A 30 villa eden on a private coral-ringed atoll in the cyan blue Indian Ocean.
What it isn't
Sweltering. Sure, your oversized villa (starting at 1,880 square feet) can sit open to the lush wilds beyond your bow windows, but you can also pop on stellar air-conditioning.
What we think
We’ve never stayed at Sir Richard Branson’s private Necker island, but we’d imagine it’s something like this, where every villa is too eye-popping to be anything but worthy of Mr. intergalactic himself. Even in the “starter” villa (and here, there are no starter villas), you’ll have your own 215-square-foot infinity pool, al fresco shower, mosquito-net swathed bed with organic mattresses from Naturalmat, a private wine cellar and—this being a Six Senses—an in-room yoga mat. In other words, you’ll shed a tear the day you have to check out and return to real life. The property’s experiences are equally spectacular, including diving the glass-clear waters around Félicité Island, a spa complete with a meditation deck and lofted saltwater pool, and taking a helicopter around the Seychelles’ most eye-popping sights, including Vallee de Mai, purportedly the earliest Garden of Eden. See? We told you this place was paradise.
You're here because
You want to make Mr. Branson jealous. And, more seriously, because you’re trying to be more “green” and this is among the most sustainably minded spots you’ve ever stayed at (they run their own reverse osmosis plant, for example, in addition to the usual organic gardens, solar power, et al).
The Moment
You’ve enjoyed every single meal here—even at the wellness-focused, meat-free Ocean Kitchen, but tonight you’re going to treat yourself to solace in Lakanbiz, a rum bar that bills itself as being for pirates only. That’s because this hush-hush hole in the wall is actually an honor bar where you pour your libations yourself from an admirable bounty of house-infused rums and punch and light your own damn cigar just like Bond, James Bond.
